At CIP Psychiatry, we use computerized cognitive tests which are FDA-cleared, evidence-based tools that help objectively measure the core symptoms of ADHD: attention, impulsivity, and activity level. These assessments provide valuable data that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of diagnostic evaluations and treatment monitoring.
ADHD & Cognitive Testing
What is Cognitive testing?
The cognitive testing we offer is a computerized cognitive assessment that combines a structured attention task with objective movement tracking to evaluate how a person sustains attention, controls impulses, and regulates activity level. Depending on the format, it may be completed either in-clinic or remotely using secure, camera-based technology.
Similar objective cognitive assessments have been validated across numerous peer-reviewed studies, demonstrating that when used alongside a comprehensive clinical evaluation, they can improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce time to diagnosis, and provide measurable data to help monitor treatment response over time.
Important note: This assessment is not a stand-alone diagnostic tool. Conditions such as ADHD remain clinical diagnoses made by a qualified mental health professional, based on a thorough integration of clinical history, interviews, and standardized rating scales.
How It Works - The Testing Process at CIP Psychiatry
Cognitive testing is only offered after a formal consultation is completed. It is used as part of the diagnostic process to evaluate for ADHD and will be discussed with you by your provider.
Step 1 – Payment and Scheduling
A $135 payment is required before the test is sent out. This fee covers the cognitive test and the follow-up interpretation session if your insurance does not reimburse for the service.
Step 2 – Testing
You’ll complete the cognitive test in our office or from home. The test takes about 20–30 minutes and does not require preparation.
Step 3 – Results and Review
A separate interpretation appointment will be scheduled to review your results, discuss findings, and connect them to your overall clinical picture.
Step 4 – Insurance and Reimbursement
After the review appointment, CIP Psychiatry will submit the testing charge to your insurance.
• If your insurance covers the service, your $135 payment will be refunded.
• If your insurance does not cover the test, the $135 fee will serve as full payment for the testing process.
